Conference Objectives


Our objectives for GEOLAC are wide-ranging and ambitious:

 

  • Match long-term international funding and world-class technology to regional geothermal opportunities
  • Explore possibilities for the transfer and export of expertise and experience from Mexico and Central America to the Southern Cone, Andean and the Caribbean
  • Define the regional energy market: demand, supply - and opportunities for geothermal development
  • Provide regional utilities and governments making first steps towards geothermal exploitation with a clear roadmap of the core technological, process, and environmental issues
  • Provide global geothermal developers and investors with a clear picture of where the regional opportunities lie and the conditions (policy, political, regulatory) which characterize each opportunity
  • Understand multilateral/development bank participation across the region and explore the availability of financing for geothermal projects
  • Pinpoint the bottlenecks in legislation, tariffs, technology, political will and finance; work towards real world solutions
  • Introduce the best in global geothermal developers and technologies to regional energy decision-makers
  • Highlight world-class geothermal projects in and out of the region and analyze their success criteria
